Jenn and Ryan live in Michigan, and I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their wedding at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. They had visited Chicago last fall to do their engagement photos in Lincoln Park, so I couldn’t wait to work with them again! I started off my day with Jenn and her bridesmaids as they got ready at the hotel. Once everyone was ready, we jumped in a car bound for the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Jenn wore her mother’s wedding dress, and she rocked it out! The ceremony was held outdoors, and afterwards, we walked around the Gardens for a bit to take some photos with the wedding party. It was scorching hot out, but we still had lots of fun before heading back into the air conditioning.
After dinner and the reception were over, we headed to Sidetracks, a bar in Ypsilanti, with Jenn, Ryan, and a few of their friends. We even lit some sparklers outside! Instead of lugging all of my gear over, I just brought my Fuji X100 and was pleasantly surprised with how well it did in such low light! Congratulations again, Jenn and Ryan! Thank you so much for bringing me to Ann Arbor and giving me the opportunity to document your wedding day. I wish you guys nothing but the best!

These are so cute. I am photographing a wedding later this year at the Matthaei Gardens so this was especially of interest to me as I’ve only been in the conservatory during the off season. I love the image under the archway. :)
