I was really excited for Michelle and Michael’s wedding. This lovely couple lived in Amsterdam but were having their wedding in Chicago. I can’t even imagine how difficult it must have been to have planned an entire wedding from the other side of the world, but Michelle and Michael pulled it off beautifully. Even though our only interaction had been on the phone and over Skype, Michelle greeted me with a huge smile when I showed up, as if we had been friends for years! After they were finished getting ready, we had a first look in the hotel lobby and headed for Millennium Park for some fun pictures. It was pretty warm out, and Michelle wanted to duck into a nearby drugstore to grab a drink. Even though there was a huge line at checkout, we asked nicely if we could cut in front, and the customers in line were both amiable and congratulatory! We jumped in a cab and headed for Navy Pier Crystal Gardens. It was my first time shooting here, and I loved it! The ceremony was set up outside with the skyline in the background, and we also got a decent crowd of spectators who saw that there was a wedding going on. In spite of having grown up in Chicago, this was only my second time inside Navy Pier Crystal Gardens, and I had a blast! Congratulations, Michelle and Michael, and thank you for the opportunity to document your wedding day; I had so much fun doing it!
