Jen and Rob are a fantastic couple who had their Chicago wedding at the Doubletree Hotel in Skokie. Due to his incredibly busy work schedule, I wasn’t able to meet Rob until the actual wedding day. Jen assured me that he was awesome, and she couldn’t have been more right!
I started off my day checking in with Rob as he waited for his groomsmen to arrive. Kelly stayed with the guys while I went to hang out with Jen and the girls as they got ready. When she was ready, we coordinated a first look with Rob. The weather wasn’t on our side this day, and the snow and cold prevented us from being able to go outside for pictures. Instead, we wandered the halls of the Doubletree Hotel Skokie for areas to do some fun photos with just the two of them and their wedding party. Fleur, one of my favorite florists, did the flowers, including Jen’s lovely bouquet. Afterwards, it was time for the signing of the ketubah, followed by the ceremony and the reception. The Late Nite Band was fantastic and did a great job keeping the dance floor packed! It was so crowded that during the hora, my back was almost pushed up against the wall of the room! Congratulations again, Jen and Rob, and thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wedding day.
Side note: My assistant Kelly has been working with me since last year, doing not-so-glamorous tasks like carrying my gear and helping me with off-camera lighting. She’s been shooting and learning so much, and because I didn’t have a second shooter for this wedding, I let her shoot as much as she wanted. Her work has come so far, and I’m so impressed by how dramatically she improves with every wedding!

The toughest part of shooting jewish weddings is that they do it in the evening after sunset. hard to get really good light during a ceremony. i think you captured it beautifully. congrats to the bride and groom!
